British Viola Society Privacy Policy
This privacy policy is for the British Viola Society (BVS) and the Society’s website www.britishviolasociety.co.uk . It sets out how the BVS uses and protects any information that you supply, and is in compliance with all UK national laws and requirements for user privacy.

When you join the British Viola Society (BVS) as a member, the BVS collects the following personal information from you: your name, email address and post code. We do not require you to supply us with your phone number or mailing address but you can do so if you wish.

The BVS uses member information for the purposes of :
- creating and maintaining individual member accounts;
- collecting important information pertaining to your membership in the BVS;
- emailing the monthly BVS Newsletter;
- sending you reminders about your BVS membership;
- contacting you in case of a problem with your subscription account;
- statistical analysis and the administration of the BVS systems;
- Membership surveys.
If you no longer wish to receive the BVS Newsletter, you may opt-out by following the unsubscribe link included in each email, or by contacting the BVS Secretary.
Access to Member Information
The accuracy of your information is very important to us. You may choose to restrict the collection or use of your personal information by ticking the ‘opt out’ button when you join the Society, or in writing to us at any subsequent time in your membership
We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or are required by law to do so.

16 or Under
We are concerned to protect the privacy of children aged 16 or under. If you are aged 16 or under‚ please get your parent/guardian’s permission beforehand whenever you provide us with personal information.

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. We have secured the Society’s website using the SSL protocol, denoted by a padlock icon which appears in your address bar when you visit a secure website This is a data transfer security standard that encrypts data and authenticates the server and the integrity of the message.
